PRE-KINDERGARTEN 4/5

Pre-Kinders must be 4 by September 1, 2011 and entering kindergarten in the fall of 2012. We want to help our students become enthusiastic learners through purposeful play and exploration. Our curriculum is designed to allow each student the opportunity to experience a nurturing environment, establish trust, make friends and develop cooperation skills. As educators, our aim is to help your child experience pride and self confidence, develop independence and self-control, and have a positive attitude toward life and school.

A Typical Day for Pre-Kinders

* 45 minutes in the gym to develop motor development, tumbling and group games along with following directions and interacting with friends.

* Circle time in the classroom: greetings, calendar, weather, group interaction, job assignments, sharing, reading, music, introduce the theme/lesson for the day/week and Spanish/Sign language.

* Centers: literacy, math,and social

* Snack and free play

* Art/Science lesson which is related to the weekly theme

* Clean up

* Ending circle: music, language, reading, group interaction, announcements/reminders

* Pack up and say goodbye

We are offering an extra program for our Pre-Kinders, Wiggles & Nibbles.

Wiggles & Nibbles is an opportunity for your child to have an extra 45 minutes of preschool! Wiggles & Nibbles members will head into the gym at 12:15 for an extra "Wiggle" time, similar to recess at school. Wiggles and Nibbles members will head back into the classroom at 12:35 for lunch. This, too, is imporatnat for school readiness. Children need to learn how to sit at the table, open their lunch boxes, open food/drink items, and clean up their spot. This program touches not only on school readiness, but on social interaction, self-confidence and independence. Also, by making this an additional option for parents, it allows more learning time in the classroom and additional time for you!

Children will bring their own packed lunches for this program. The program is offered on Monday and Wednesday only from 12:15-1:00 and will cost $5 per time. We are excited to continue this program at Bellingham Bay Gymnastics & Preschool!
